“For women, shoes are the most important. Good shoes take you good places.”
Seo Min Hyun

With everyone around me complaining about cold Winter weather, work overload and declining economy, I just couldn't stop thinking ahead, in a more positive, brighter and sexier direction - towards Spring 2013. shoe collections.

I mean, lets face it, getting up on a pair of super hot heels makes you walk prouder, it shoots up your confidence, lengthens your legs and makes your step more elegant. We women - we just have special place in our heart for gorgeous shoes!

For this post I selected my favorite shoe models from Spring 2013. collections. Naturally, in my top 5 there is always McQueen (golden fly slippers and gold sandals), Charlote Olympia and Kirkwood gold and silver detailing sandals but this season I also got my eyes on a fabulous pairs of other designer shoes bellow.

Aquazzura is my new discovery in terms of shoe brands, it is an Italian luxury shoe brand founded in Florence by footwear designer Edfardo Osorio who attended the college of fashion and London's Central Saint Martins. These colorful sandals and snake skin pumps in ultra modern orange for Spring surely got my attention!

“You want to fall in love with a shoe, go ahead. A shoe can’t love you back, but, on the other hand, a shoe can’t hurt you too deeply either. And there are so many nice-looking shoes.”
Allan Sherman

Most of designers went all out with Spring colors and due to the fact that we don't really have real Spring in last couple of years here in Europe but it rather looks more like Summer right away I prefer to shop for sandals versus closed pumps or stilletoes.

....AND....last but not least, the fabulous Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, these are on my 'I will die if I don't have' list for Spring.

With this post ladies I dare you not to complain about snow, Winter and cold but rather to concentrate on saving, earning and dreaming about these heavenly fabulous Spring shoes!

“I like Cinderella, I really do. She has a good work ethic. I appreciate a good, hard-working gal. And she likes shoes. The fairy tale is all about the shoe at the end, and I’m a big shoe girl.”

Romantic darkness FW 2012.

Fall 2012. Collectionsoverall announced quite a serious season, darkly romantic. The common theme was harder age look, a lot of layering as if layers were there to build up to a protective shield, defending women from hard and unpredictable economic times coming up. Renaissance inspired romantic darkness was contrasted with excessive, escapist urge of more couture pieces showed – creative double reality for women, the one we live and the luxury, dreamy one we strive for.

CAVALLI swapped last season mink with crocodile, there were a lot of amazing 70’s inspired pants shown and lovely animal print sweaters. Overall, he created rather rich, powerful, excessive and sexy collection.

PRADA presented virtual princesses army, girls looked powerful and otherworldly, a bit like robotic avatars. Pieces were decorated waste upwards, skirts were styled over pants, focus was on structure, ornament and print but romanticism was still coming out as PRADA’s signature.

FENDI designed collection with modern amazons in mind. I really loved the iPad bags, wild orchid motive, spring bulk power women suits – truly fashion for digital age career women.

VERSACE. Donatella was facing her demons as she said with this collection. For me, collection was very much “girl with a dragon tattoo like”, prime motive was byzantine cross, very Goth, rock & roll feel. My very favorite pieces were chain dresses.

BOTTEGA VENETA’s Tomas Maier has showed the dark side of fashion. Collection is quite shaped; peplum bottoms were added to soften up tailored pieces with the goal to enhance the body.

MARNI showed structured perfectly tailored pieces, some great shoes and overall quite linear collection.

MISSONI sang ode to mother nature with amazing natural color shade and with its signature knits by fusing different fabrications adding innovative crystals, metallic, marble stone, latex, leather, suede and knits in layers of colors and textures.

D&G’s collection was inspired by romantic baroque with respect to Italian tradition and celebration of Italy featuring embroidery over lace, beautiful floral prints, and marzipan like shoes in a spirit of shameless earthiness. This is a “money in the bank” collection for sure.

ARMANI reinvented his style with gorgeous evening wear shorts and girlish looks in forcefully strong colors.

PUCCI designed strong women dresses showing less skin, classic and sexy with graphics expressed through fabrics and lovely pajama print suits.

A gold-digger.

Definition of GOLD DIGGER  - noun
1: one who digs for gold
2: a person who uses charm to extract money or gifts from others
Any woman whose primary interest in a relationship is material benefits. A woman who cares more about a man's bank account than she does about the man. The closest male equivalent is a gigolo or boy toy.

I wanted to write the post on this topic awhile ago until recently someone reminded me on the timelessness of this topic and term which people tend to throw around a lot as it relates to mostly women in different situations.

First, I would like to say that more and more I can think of many men fitting in above dictionary description of a term – gold-digger or maybe more politely put – conveniently in-love men.

However as it is mostly relates to women (even in a definition) I went ahead and did a little interview with a friend who proudly saids she indeed picks her boyfriends (often more at a time, but one official one) according to their financial status.

She claims that she feels flattered by their attention and gifts, she likes fancy dinners and vacation they take her to and said that she only acts like men do and sees nothing wrong in that.

First I have judged her, I admit it...but after looking at the bigger picture, I felt sorry for her. I feel sorry because I don't think she believes she deserves better, I don't think she believes she is able to take care of herself on her own and I don't think that she is happy.

Her belief that man should be used „because they are all the same, they lie and cheat“I think it’s sad. Her parents bad marriage and couple of bad relationships do not stand as a proof that all man are the same and should be punished for sins of couple of bad apples who came before them. It is taking an easy way out – and being scared to get to know a guy and maybe even fall in love with him and not his car.

All in all, a potential gold-digger should understand that – although every woman likes nice clothes, shoes & living standard, these cannot hug you back at night, and lonely feels equally lonely no matter the price of the sheets you are lying on. While with being with a man who willingly takes this kind of „treatment“ and goes with it, she gets what she deserves.

Although desirable, Gucci, Hermes, Chanel purses and clothes and expensive cars  are all seasonal, dropping in price and value starting from the day you buy them.

Did we really start measuring love in currency ladies?
What is the broken hearts worth?

Orange loves pink!

Source of photos: www.ragpony.com, Jil Sander SS 2011.

Since end 2009 orange has become a regular in spring and resort collections of many designers. For me it was always somehow reminding on 70s tailored shirts and luxurious one piece bading suits. Spring 2011. Collections are rich with bright colors and optimism – everything goes! The brighter the better!

Orange is combined with red and pink to make a BAM impression. My favorite accessory  while wearing pink and orange outfit is a light pink lipstick while keeping the rest of the look simple without additional pop colors – just like Jil Sander did in his SS 11/12. Collection.

I have selected a number of images for inspiration : makeup and hair backstage shoots from SS 2011/12, to see how this fashion color blocking trend is spilling out to beauty as well, an editorial from May, 2009. Issue of Vogue India (feat.Lakshmi Menor) on the very bottom of the post, amazing clutch and a cute little Zara purse as a mainstream alternative and finally a couple of runway looks to bring it all together.
