DIY: Shabby chic fruit stand

Couple of months back when it was still quit cold, early on a Sunday, morning my friend Iva (La Passionpour la Fashion book club member) was kind enough to go to vintage market Hrelić with me. As you might remember from my previous post, this was where I got a fruit/cookies shabby chic stand for only about $6. It was rustic green and it needed some refurbishing.

I finally got to work on it few days ago, but it wasn’t as easy as it seems, first I needed to strengthen it as it was a bit shaky and I wanted it to be able to hold fruit on both top and bottom. Then I went to the largest hobby store to get white color paint and brushes. However, the color wasn’t holding all that well, it was not thick enough, so my friend Iva again came to rescue, she gave me her mum’s craft paint which was an off-white color but there wasn’t enough there for two layers.

Soo…my friend Anita came and we talked about how it is pity that I still haven’t gotten to refurbishing this lovely vintage fruit stand, so we went through my closet with supplies and decided I shall use the thick white paint which also contains polish in it, and which is usually used on heaters, and surprise, surprise! – It worked! J

One layer of paint was enough; I did some spot touchups and voila! Done!

p.s. Ok, I’ll be completely honest, I totally ruined my manicure twice during this DIY project cause there was a hole in my rubber gloves which I didn’t notice on time, so basically I paid a lot for this vintage fruit stand but I think it was worth of it J

I can hold fruit or macaroons which I adore on it! Here is a good recipe for macaroons ;)

Cannes goes vintage

So, other than fast cars, easy women in expensive designer clothes holding hands with tanned older guys in polo shirts with bad hairdos - Cannes has an awesome vintage market on Sunday mornings.

Awesome - meaning that you can find vintage pieces of real value, well preserved but the prices are extremely high! (Guess they are going for above mentioned clientele).

Vintage purses and designer costume jewelry were my favorite finds.
Bellow you can see the photos of the most interesting pieces I found.

Uu...I also visited the perfume museum in Grasse – take a look at the Marie Antoinette cosmetic cases bellow! Can you say DIVAAA! :)

Enjoy lovelies!
p.s. Next time - I am taking orders and keeping the commission - hehe :)

5 Fabies

Last weekend I moved into my new apartment: think small kitchen (custom fit), pale pink walls, walk in closet and a fairly spacey living room. Ahh my shoes finally have a good home!

I had most of the week off and surprisingly I am getting interested in vine glasses, salad bowls and curtains. I thought this might be the end of fashionable me as you know it as I was passing by the designer clothing store windows and walking in home decoration stores. However, I found myself placing heels I haven't worn yet on display on the cupboards as they are picture frames...ahh I am  hopeless.

Bellow I listed my latest 5 favorite fabies I found for inspiration:

1. Gorgeous pattern head wrap worn with one of my all time favorite camel coat.

2. Scull lace skirt is absolute must have for every girlie girl :)

3. Alexa Mulberry bag is my new Hermes in this particular color it can be worn with anything and fits a lot of stuff (that are all important and worn in womens bag every day). Ahh I shall get it one day :)

4. Floral socks worn with brown sandals, I just got a pair of suck socks in H&M recently and I wear them over my brown gladiator heel sandals, washed out boyfriend jeans and a floral dress.

5. Perfect city bicycle. I have been searching for this one to replace my gym so I can do only pilates in the gym. Tomorrow morning I am going to a vintage market so keep your fingers crossed for me to find a decent one to color latter on in pink ;)
"In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different."

Xoxo,
