From Barcelona with love...

Leaving Barcelona yesterday felt like leaving home to go somewhere new and in a way, it was. As my boyfriend drove into airport to drop me off on his way to practice a sudden wave of emotions just rushed over my body and I couldn't stop myself from crying. We kissed, hugged and I shoved my face into his chest and cried like a child when you drop him off at the kindergarten for the first time and he is begging you not to leave him at this strange new place. He squeezed me tightly and took a deep deep breath.

An hour later, drowning my sorrow in the venti-cup of cafe late and September issue of British Vogue I could not help but wonder why are we putting ourselves through all this. We are both young, capable and successful. Could there be an easier way to all this?

At about page 115 reading about Sicilian baroque trend I got a bit more optimistic and realistic, so I took a break from Vogue and browsed through my last several photos from days spent together and realised how strong and how much we grew as a couple in last couple of weeks. That has to count for something. All at its own time I concluded.

Bellow I am sharing photos from our last couple of days spent together, my short shopping visit for some make up and cosmetics basics at El Corte Ingles where I got lovely Bobbi Brown oil free foundation - natural 4 and sheer finish powder - warm natural 6. I also got some Effaclar face wash and renovating serum.

Later in the day, few hours before departure, I carefully packed my valued jewelry and delicate garment pieces and "death-march" walked to the car.

Getting lost in Barcelona.

Today is our second day in Barcelona and my boyfriend and I have already had a chance to see two apartments and had a little bit of time to explore Barcelona on foot before getting a rent-a-car to use until his car is delivered from home.

We saw an amazing, very spacious apartment, fully furnished with lovely modern black and white furniture and lovely huge red sofa in the living room. The highlight for me was a walk in closet which is probably bigger then my bedroom at home as well as the roomy kitchen in which I promised to learn how to cook if finally we decide to take this apartment.I am totally in love with it, naturally because of the walk-in closet which is something I have been dreaming about forever - and although I will not be living here and using it every day, it will be good enough for me if I could borrow it for a week while I do visit. :)

I will try to keep this excitement for myself not to influence my boyfriends decision on which apartment to choose for himself to much, cause that would be a bit selfish now wouldn't it? :)

Other then seeing this great apartment we also had time to explore Barcelona's city center on foot, I hope you enjoy the photos I took on the go while researching the city and here around a wonderful Gran Hotel Princesa Sofia with Instagram bellow. Soon I will be posting more of the Barcelona's fashion hot spots :)

Designer crush: Stéphane Rolland

I have been following this amazing designer brand develop and I was particularly thrilled to see his 5year anniversary Fall Couture 2012. show. Famous by his architectural style and sharp bold cuts, for this collection Stephane Rolland chose the pallet of ivories, black and royal scarlet red.

Gorgeous red carpet worthy gowns made of chiffon, silk and jersey were accessorized with chunky gold jewelry, belts and matching hardware details on platform sandals. My favorite were the next three gowns with 3D sculptural details and red feather tail siren dress.

The show was closed by amazing Yasmin Le Bon wearing massive red jersey wedding gown which was made out of 49 yards or fabric and needed two assistants to be able to walk down the runway.

This has to be one of the best shows I have seen recently, it had a strength, focus, it is wearable and made out of great quality fabrics.I am sure that the prices are high but each of these gowns is certain to be a show stopper and "all eyes on me" kind of red carpet dress. I am looking forward to see these dresses on magazine covers.

How do you like Stephane Rollands five year anniversary collection?

The best of Fall Couture 2012. Fashion Week

The common theme for the Fall Couture 2012. Fashion Week was surely this new Noir we are seeing across collections. This is what I loved the most - gorgeous luxurious gowns made of expensive French empire lace flirting with vintage silhouettes.

ELIE SAAB
Known by his red carpet gowns didn't disappoint. Collection consisted solely of gowns and cocktail dresses rich with Chantilly lace, sequins and crystals. Collection was mostly black smaller number of pale pink, blue and gold lace pieces.

ZUHAIR MURAD
This Lebanese designer has entered the "red carpet star dressing" world by dressing young actress Blake Lively and singer-actress Jennifer Lopez on her tour. His bellow shown Fall 2012. couture collection is obviously targeting 20+ young starlets with shown cocktail dresses and red carpet gowns with emphasized waiste, high cut maxi gowns and long lace numbers. I particularly love the old Hollywood 50's glam one can sense from this collection. Murad did not forget about his more conservative a bit older clients, designing a nice versatile range of gorgeous, finely embroidered gowns.

MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA
This "Artisanal" collection was about reinventing, refurbishing vintage pieces by hand into new designs. Collection was rich with silk, lace, row cotton and beaded pieces embellished with destroyed and "refurbished" pieces like crystal doorknob, windsurfing sail and vintage baseball glows - far right on the photo.

My favorite (of course on top of mysterious crystal masks) were simple French lace straight trousers worn on couple of models while most of the attention was drawn by comprehensive pieces worn on top of the body.

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER
Inspired by 20's, 30's and Metropolis JPG showed us quite an interesting collection featuring metal headbands, top hats and perfectly cut garments. For my liking, it was a bit to much this time, it was a bit to over the top and confusing with having to many men's pieces overlapping with women's insinuating androgynous look but in a quite annoying and over the top way. All of the individual pieces are made with amazing precision and craftsmanship and can definitely look brilliant worn separately.

ALEXANDRE-VAUTIER
This collection is clearly made for "look at me" kind of girl, reminding on as one fashion journalist wrote "golden age of disco" however I liked the elements of it very much and find them quite wearable, well at least on special occasions and naturally if you have body for it.
I particularly liked the sporty fabric mixes (Neoprene) and lovely tailored peplum jackets which I would wear with skinny jeans and plunge-necked cocktail long sleeve dresses which could be pulled out by girls with not so big chest.

I am really looking forward to seeing these pieces in magazine editorials! Which collections was your absolute favorite lovelies?

Absolutely magical McQueen!

All photos are owned by www.style.com

As I stated in my last post, I am running a bit behind on publishing my show reviews and fashion week posts. I did see all the shows, but my daily work schedule, vacation and business trips combined with my sisters weeding kind of ran over me in the last couple of weeks.

So, there are the fashion shows, presentations and then there is magical McQueen.

After watching the show, observing the details and reading many positive show reviews my intention was to pull the parallel in between Alexander McQueen mainline and the McQ shows.

While creating the collection, Sarah Burton had bright future ahead, positivity and optimism in mind which obviously contradicts general feel of global economic recession and grayness present in the world at the moment.

The Alexander McQueen show was set up in a way to slowly escalate, grow and explode in form, volume and color. Models were styled with visors, fur pompons and knee length soft booties.

Show started with short, tailored, light colored graphic coat dresses where decoration was embroidered in the fabric, while other dresses were controlled in waist with bold shaped belts.
These pods made out of feather and fur in bold black and red colors exploded later into quite extravagant shapes which looked like they were floating in the air.
What a surreal show!

McQ brand is about 6 years old now and this was the first time it was showing on London Fashion Week.

The romance, the dark glamour and immaculate tailoring are what McQ brand is all about, providing beautiful clothes under lower price than the main line without compromising the quality.

The collection was inspired by military menswear colored in hunter green and tan, quite luxurious and rich in details, exploding into evening wear towards the end with dresses having gothic inspired black lace combined with gorgeously tailored plaid or red wine color velvet with rich detailing.
I also loved shoes and belts with a small chain very much so, there wasn’t a piece I wouldn’t wear! Absolutely fantastic! What was your favorite show lovelies?
